How should Android board interfaces be specified?
Specify every interface by electrical standard, connector, pinout, bandwidth, voltage, driver dependency and acceptance test. A list containing only names such as USB, LVDS or RS485 is not enough for a custom board quotation.
Interface definition table
| Group | Items to confirm |
|---|---|
| Display | HDMI/LVDS/eDP/MIPI, timing, resolution and independent output |
| Camera | Sensor, lanes, clock, connector and driver |
| USB | Host/OTG role, speed, current and ESD protection |
| Industrial I/O | RS232/485, CAN, GPIO voltage and isolation |
| Network | Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular and antennas |
| Power | Input range, peaks, sequencing, sleep and recovery |
Which errors cause redesign?
Common causes include an unverified panel timing, wrong serial voltage, insufficient USB power, missing antenna clearance and assuming a SoC feature is exposed on every board. Review the actual carrier schematic and BSP support.
What should be tested on the prototype?
Test all ports with the production peripheral, cable and enclosure. Record throughput, temperature, reconnect behavior, suspend/resume and recovery after power interruption.
